1. Remove the left sound insulator.
2. Remove the left carpet retainer.
3. Position the carpet and sound deadener aside.
4. Disconnect the PCM electrical connections.
5. Remove the PCM retaining bracket door.
6. Remove the PCM.
7. Remove the PCM bracket.
8. Remove the park brake cable (4) from the park brake lever (1).
9. Partially raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



10. Remove the front cable (2) at the connector clip (1).



11. Remove the cable retainer (1) from the underbody.
12. Remove the cable (2) from the vehicle.

Notice: Parking brake adjustment is not necessary. This is a self adjusting system and damage may result from attempting to adjust or modify this system in any way. It may be necessary to adjust the rear brakes to obtain the proper tension in the system.

1. Connect the park brake cable (2) to the vehicle.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Connect the cable retainer (1) to the vehicle.

Tighten
Tighten the cable retainer bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).




3. Connect the park brake cable (2) at the connector clip (1).
4. Lower the vehicle.



5. Install the park brake cable (4) to the park brake lever (1).
6. Install the PCM bracket.
7. Install the PCM.
8. Install the PCM retaining bracket door.
9. Install the PCM electrical connections.
10. Position the left carpet and sound deadener.
11. Install the carpet retainer.
12. Install the left sound insulator.
