Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 510441  Size: SH
  3. Remove the transmission converter cover bolts.
  4. Remove the transmission converter cover.
  5. Mark the relationship of the converter to the flywheel.
  6. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  7. Object Number: 475919  Size: SH
  8. Remove the 3 bolts that attach the converter to the flywheel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 475919  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the bolts that attach the converter to the flywheel.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten all of the bolts to 62 N·m (46 lb ft). Re-torque the first bolt after all three have been tightened.

  3. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  4. Object Number: 510441  Size: SH
  5. Install the converter cover.
  6. Install the converter cover bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the converter cover bolts to 13 N·m (115 lb in).

  8. Lower the vehicle.
