Clearing History DTCs

Important:: Before clearing DTCs, use the scan tool in order to record the Freeze Frame and the Failure Records for reference. Data will be lost when you use the Clear Info function.

After you have repaired the fault, clear history DTCs in the following ways:

    • Use a scan tool
    • After 40 warm up cycles have been achieved without a fault present, history DTCs will be cleared automatically

In order to clear the DTC default actions, perform the following procedure:

  1. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds
  2. Turn the ignition ON and perform the scan tool clearing feature.
  3. Verify that the code has been cleared.

PCM Reprogramming

The controllers no longer feature a replaceable EPROM. Remove and replace the controller and the EEPROM chips as a unit. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming 2.4L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming 3.1L for the complete reprogramming procedure .
