Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

  5. Remove the lo and the reverse band servo cover bolts.

  6. Object Number: 104528  Size: SH
  7. Remove the lo and the reverse band servo cover.

  8. Object Number: 104530  Size: SH
  9. Remove the lo and the reverse band servo snap ring.

  10. Object Number: 104531  Size: SH
  11. Remove the reverse band servo cover seal.
  12. Remove the reverse band servo piston seal.

  14. Remove the lo and the reverse band servo piston.
  15. Remove the 4th band servo piston inner spring.
  16. Remove the lo and the reverse band servo piston pin.

  18. Remove the lo and the reverse band servo piston spring.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lo and the reverse band servo piston spring.

  2. Object Number: 104532  Size: SH
  3. Install the lo and the reverse band servo piston pin.
  4. Install the 4th band servo piston inner spring.
  5. Install the lo and the reverse band servo piston.
  6. Install the reverse band servo piston seal.
  7. Install the reverse band servo cover seal.
  8. Install the lo and the reverse band servo snap ring.

  10. Install the lo and the reverse band servo cover.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  12. Install the lo and the reverse band servo cover bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  14. Install the oil pan. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Add transmission fluid.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  19. Check fluid level.
