- Loosen the bolts for the hood latch.
- Adjust the front hood
bumpers until the hood (2) aligns with the front of the fenders. Turn
the bumper in the following directions:
• | Clockwise in order to lower the bumper |
• | Counterclockwise in order to raise the bumper |
- Measure the difference between the hood and the rear of the fender.
- Obtain a shim that is the same thickness of the difference between
the hood and the rear of the fender.
- Loosen the hood hinge bolts.
- Install the shim between the hood hinge and the hood (2).
- Hand-tighten the hood hinge bolts (1).
- Position the hood latch upward.
- Hand-tighten the hood latch bolts.
- Carefully close the hood in order to engage the following components:
- Press on the hood until the hood is aligned with the front of
the fenders.
- Adjust the clearance between the hood and the fender.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the hood
hinge bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the hood hinge bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the hood hinge bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the hood hinge bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Verify proper operation.
