Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Disconnect the sunroof control module (SCM) connector C2
  2. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
  3. probe the SCM connector C2 terminal B with a test lamp to ground.

Did the test lamp light?

  1. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the SCM connector C2 terminals B and D.

Did the test lamp light?

  1. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
  2. Backprobe the right instrument panel (IP) junction block connector C3 terminal A12 with a lamp to ground.

Did the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 8

  1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the SCM connector C1.
  3. Use the J 39200 in order to measure the resistance between the SCM connector C1 terminals 5 and 6.

Does the resistance change from OL to less than 2ohms as the switch is moved from the neutral position to the open roof position?

0-2ohms

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the sunroof switch.
  2. Ensure that the J 39200 is still connected.
  3. Use the jumper wire in order to jumper the sunroof switch connector between terminals F and C.

Does the J 39200 display a value with the specified range?

0-2ohms

  1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
  2. Measure the resistance between the SCM connector C1 terminals 7 and 5

Does the resistance change from OL to less than 2ohms as the switch is moved from the neutral to the close roof position?

  1. Disconnect the sunroof switch.
  2. Ensure that the J 39200 is still connected.
  3. use a jumper wire in order to jumper the sunroof switch connector between terminals F and B.

Does the J 39200 display a value within the specified range?

0-2ohms

Repair the open in CKT 541.

Replace the right IP wiring harness junction block assembly.
