Removal Procedure
- Lift up on the seat back recliner handle in order to dump the seat back to the full forward position. This action will release the seat back recliner.
- Pull back on the seat back without lifting the handle. The seat back recliner will latch the seat back into the full forward position.
- Remove the J-retainer from the seat back cover.
- Raise the seat back cover trim in order to gain access to the seat back recliner to seat back bolts (2).
- Remove the one seat back recliner bolt, from each side of the seat back pad (1).
- Remove the seat back (1) from the recliner mechanisms (3).
Important: Securely latch the seat back in the full forward position before removal.
Using the following procedure:
Installation
- Install the seat back (1) to the seat back recliner mechanisms (3).
- First, install the seat back recliner bolts (2) to the seat back.
- Install the J-retainer seat back cover.
Important: Ensure that the alignment of the seat back frame and recliner is correct. Once the seat back holes are aligned with the seat back recliner holes, do not lean on the seat back . This action may cause the seat back to twist or misalign. Twists or misalignments may result in the failure of the seat back recliner system.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the seat back recliner bolts (2) on the seat back to
3 N·m (27 lb in).
