J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 499137  Size: SH
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Using the J 38185 , reposition the hose clamps at the surge tank.
  3. Disconnect the hoses.

  4. Object Number: 499132  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the low coolant switch electrical connector from the surge tank.

  6. Object Number: 499129  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the coolant return hose.
  8. Remove the radiator surge tank bolt and tank.
  9. Remove the low coolant switch from the tank.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 499129  Size: SH
  1. Install the low coolant switch to the tank.
  2. Place the surge tank in the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the surge tank bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the coolant return hose.

  7. Object Number: 499137  Size: SH
  8. Connect the coolant hoses to the surge tank.
  9. Using the J 38185 , reposition and install the hose clamps at the surge tank.

  10. Object Number: 499132  Size: SH
  11. Connect the low coolant switch electrical connector.
  12. Fill the cooling system at the radiator surge tank. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
