Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 13340  Size: MH
  1. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.

  2. Object Number: 736049  Size: SH
  3. Remove the underhood electrical center from the bracket.
  4. Remove the underhood electrical center bracket.

  5. Object Number: 494775  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the shift cable from the PNP switch.
  7. Remove the shift cable bracket.

  8. Object Number: 104504  Size: SH
  9. Remove the PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement .
  10. Remove the transmission upper side cover bolts.
  11. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical.
  12. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  13. Remove the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  14. Remove the left inner fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End.
  15. Remove the frame. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
  16. Remove the wheel drive shaft from the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.

  18. Remove the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Front Mount Replacement or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Transmission/Transaxle.
  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Lower the engine with the engine support fixture.
  21. Raise the vehicle.
  22. Remove the transmission side cover lower bolts.
  23. Remove the transmission side cover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 510427  Size: SH
  1. Install the transmission side cover.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Hand start the transmission side cover lower bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the side cover bolts and stud to 28 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Raise the engine with the engine support fixture.
  7. Raise the vehicle.
  8. Install the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Front Mount Replacement or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement in Transmission/Transaxle.
  9. Install the frame. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.

  10. Object Number: 104504  Size: SH
  11. Install the wheel drive shaft to the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
  12. Install the left inner fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End.
  13. Install the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  14. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  15. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture in Engine Mechanical.
  16. Hand start the transmission side cover upper bolts.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the side cover bolts and stud to 28 N·m (22 lb ft).

  18. Install the PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement .

  19. Object Number: 494775  Size: SH
  20. Install the shift cable bracket.
  21. Connect the shift cable from the PNP switch.

  22. Object Number: 736049  Size: SH
  23. Install the underhood electrical center bracket.
  24. Install the underhood electrical center to the bracket.

  25. Object Number: 13340  Size: MH
  26. Install the air cleaner housing assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  27. Fill the transmission. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities in Maintenance and Lubrication.
