Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the right front fender liner. Refer to
Front Fender Liner Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the evaporator.
- Remove and discard the seal washer.
- Remove the bolt holding the evaporator
hose assembly to the condenser.
- Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the condenser.
- Remove and discard the seal washer.
- Unfasten the two clips holding the evaporator
hose assembly.
- Remove the evaporator hose assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Reposition the evaporator hose assembly.
- Fasten the 2 clips holding the evaporator hose assembly.
- Install the new seal washer to the condenser end of the compressor hose.
- Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the evaporator.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install nut to evaporator hose assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install a new seal washer on condenser
end of the evaporator hose assembly.
- Install the evaporator hose and bolt to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the fitting bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the right front fender liner. Refer to
Front Fender Liner Replacement
Splash Shield Replacement - Wheelhouse
in Body Front End.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A
.
