Rear Outer Wheelhouse Replacement Sedan
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Caution in the Preface section.
Important: The sedan outer rear wheelhouse can be replaced at factory seams. Both models
have a beltline reinforcement that overlaps a portion of the wheelhouses. Remove
the reinforcement on sedan models according to recommended procedures. On coupe
models, templates have been developed to ensure proper wheelhouse installation
on coupe models.
- Remove all related panels and components
including the back glass.
- From inside the vehicle, pull back and protect wiring along inner wheelhouse.
- Locate and drill out six welds securing beltline reinforcement to the
quarter inner assembly. Drill through one layer ONLY.
- Locate and drill out welds at factory seams along the perimeter of the
wheelhouse flange.
- Remove the damaged wheelhouse panel.
Installation Procedure
- Drill 8 mm (5/16 in) holes
on the service part, every 40 mm (1 ½ in).
- Prepare all mating surfaces as necessary.
- Apply 3M Weld-Thru Coating P/N 05916 or equivalent to all mating surfaces.
- Position the service part and check for proper fit.
Important: Outer wheelhouse positioning may require dry-fitting of the quarter outer panel.
- Clean and prepare welded surfaces.
Important: Do not combine paint systems. Prior to refinishing, refer to GM 4901MD-99
Refinish Manual for recommended products. Do not combine paint systems. Refer to

- Apply approved anti-corrosion primer.
- Apply sealers and sound deadener materials.
- Refinish as necessary.
- Install all related panels and components.
