Cruise Indicator Information - inoperative IPC instrumentlight panel

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

A technician may call stating that the cruise indicator on the instrument panel does not illuminate when the cruise control is set. Other similar 2003 Malibu cruise indicators illuminate under the same set of circumstances.

The cruise indicator was to be deleted at the start of 2003 production. However, the deletion did not take effect until September, 2002. The cruise indicator will be turned off as of the following VIN breakpoints (last 8): Lansing "C" plant - 3C174042 Lansing "M" plant - 3M565405

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
