When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Condition/Concern:
Some confusion exist concerning the lack of service information on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Alero, and Pontiac Grand Am built with 3.1, or 3.4 V6 engine and 4T40/45E transmission that have a service calibration to prevent false setting of DTC P1815.
Recommendation/Instructions:
In July of 2002, a PCM calibration change was made in Lansing production to reduce the number of false P1815s occuring at DVT in the Lansing plants building 'N' cars. The following service calibrations do exist for this condition which would only occur on 2003 MY 'N' vehicles built prior to August 1, 2002. 'J' cars and four cylinder N cars are not involved.

'N' cars produced after these breakpoints were built with these new cals, and do not need recalibration if a P1815 occurs.
DTC P1815s which occur on vehicles with this cal change should follow instructions in TSB 03-07-30-021 and SI diagnostics.
