The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may comment that the light on the recirculation button goes off intermittently or that the light on the rear window defroster button goes off. This may be a normal operating characteristic of the HVAC control head. The HVAC control head defaults to outside air whenever the ignition key is cycled off and on or when the mode selector is switched to the defog or defrost position.

The rear window defroster will automatically switch off after ten minutes the first time after the button is pressed and after five minutes each additional time the button is pressed.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
