SMU - Latch Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P Compartment) Procedure

This bulletin is being issued to add the Latch Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P Compartment) procedure in the Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console sub-section of the Service Manual. Please add the following information to your the Service Manual.

The following information has been updated within SI. If you are using a paper version of this Service Manual, please make a reference to this bulletin on the affected page.

Removal Procedure

1. Open the instrument panel (I/P) compartment door (1).
2. Remove the screws (2) from the reinforcement cover (3) on the I/P door (1).
3. Separate the reinforcement cover (3) from the I/P door (1).



4. Remove the screws (2) from the door latch (5).
5. Remove the door latch (5) from the I/P door (1).
6. Remove the latch rod (3) from the door latch handle (4).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the latch rod (3) to the door latch handle (4).
2. Install the door latch (5) to the I/P door (1).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the screws (2) to the door latch (5).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).




4. Install the reinforcement cover (3) to the I/P door (1).
5. Install the screws (2) to the reinforcement cover (3).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

6. Close the I/P compartment door (1).
