Shock Absorber Replacement Sedan
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Using a suitable jack stand, raise the rear knuckle to remove spring tension.
- Remove the lower shock bolt.
- Remove the upper shock bolt (1).
- Remove the shock from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the shock in the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the upper shock absorber to body bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).
- Install the shock absorber to knuckle bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).
- Remove the jack stand from the rear knuckle.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Lower the vehicle.
Shock Absorber Replacement Extended Sedan
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Using a suitable jack stand, raise the rear knuckle to remove spring tension.
- Remove the lower shock bolt.
- Remove the upper shock to body nuts.
- Remove the shock from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Place the shock in the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the shock absorber to body nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the shock absorber to knuckle bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).
- Remove the jack stand from the rear knuckle.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Lower the vehicle.
