This bulletin is being revised to add part quantities to the part information and revise the warranty information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-08-110-004A (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).


Condition

Some customers may comment that the rear sunshade comes loose from the rear sunroof trim and snaps shut.

Cause

This may be caused by wind buffeting from driving with the windows open, vibrating from driving over rough roads or solar exposure causing the rear sunroof trim to soften and deform.

Correction

To correct this condition, add a reinforcement on the left and right sides of the rear sunroof trim using the following procedure.

Procedure

  1. Remove the headliner. Refer to SI Document ID #1284983.

  2. Object Number: 1538964  Size: MF
  3. Remove any adhesive from the back side of the rear sunroof trim in the area where the reinforcement will be installed. Refer to the illustration above.
  4. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol.

  5. Object Number: 1538965  Size: MF
  6. Remove the protective backing from the reinforcement and carefully apply the reinforcement to the back side of the rear sunroof trim, aligning the slot in the reinforcement with the slot in the rear sunroof trim. Refer to the illustration above.
  7. Repeat for other side.
  8. Install the headliner. Refer to SI Document ID #1284983
