Subject:SES Light due to DTC P0455 and/or P0449 - Reprogram PCM

Models:2004-2005 Chevrolet Malibu
with 2.2L Engine (VIN F - RPO L61)



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

On rare occasions, an intermittent SES light may be experienced due to DTC P0455 and/or P0449. Upon inspection, no EVAP leaks will be found and normal EVAP vent valve operation will be noted.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If the SI diagnostics do not isolate a cause for this concern, reprogram the PCM with the latest TIS2Web calibrations and evaluate the concern. At this time, the latest calibrations is titled "New calibration to address customer complaint of intermittent no crank, also improves transmission performance in garage shifts." This calibration, or any that follow, is designed to address this concern.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
