For 1990-2009 cars only

Important: Follow the balance procedure in the order listed in the following steps. Powertrain mounts must be tightened in sequence.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 851568  Size: SH
  3. Loosen the front transmission mount through bolt. Do not remove.

  4. Object Number: 851620  Size: SH
  5. Loosen the rear transmission mount through bolt. Do not remove.
  6. Position two floor jacks with wood blocks under the engine and transmission to support the powertrain assembly.

  7. Object Number: 851556  Size: SH
  8. From the engine compartment, loosen the transmission mount to transmission bolts.

  9. Object Number: 851553  Size: SH
  10. Loosen the engine mount to intermediate bracket bolts.
  11. Reposition the floor jacks to allow a 1/8 inch gap between the mount and mount bracket.
  12. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 851556  Size: SH
  13. Tighten the transmission mount to transmission bolts using the following sequence:
  14. 8.1. Rear bolt
    8.2. Middle bolt
    8.3. Front bolt

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).


    Object Number: 851553  Size: SH
  15. Tighten the engine mount to intermediate bracket bolts starting with the center bolt.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  17. Remove the floor jacks.
  18. Shake the powertrain vigorously from front to rear and allow the powertrain to settle.

  19. Object Number: 851620  Size: SH
  20. Tighten the rear transmission mount through bolt.
  21. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).


    Object Number: 851568  Size: SH
  22. Tighten the front transmission mount through bolt.
  23. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).

  24. Lower the vehicle.
