When the electronic brake control module (EBCM) is replaced, software and calibrations are flash programmed into the EBCM. The EBCM receives the vehicle powertrain options information from the powertrain control module (PCM) in order for the EBCM to automatically calibrate to the vehicle.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC C0551 Option Configuration Error
• | The ignition is ON. |
• | Ignition voltage is greater than 8 volts. |
One or more of the following conditions are present:
• | The incorrect EBCM is installed on the vehicle. |
• | The incorrect software or calibrations have been flash programmed into the EBCM. |
• | The EBCM disables the TCS until the DTC becomes a history DTC. |
• | The Traction Off indicator turns ON. |
• | The ABS remains functional. |
• | The condition for the DTC is no longer present and the DTC is cleared with a scan tool. |
• | The electronic brake control module (EBCM) automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |
If the DTC was set after EBCM replacement, verify that the replacement EBCM and software are correct for the vehicle.
