Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the rear wheel bearing. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  4. Using a suitable jack, raise the knuckle in order to relieve tension from the shock.

  6. Remove the lower shock to knuckle bolt.
  7. Remove the coil spring. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 1236978  Size: SH
  9. Remove the toe link. Refer to Toe Link Replacement .
  10. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle bolt and nut.

  11. Object Number: 1237904  Size: SH
  12. Remove the trailing arm to knuckle bolts.

  13. Object Number: 1236972  Size: SH
  14. Remove the stabilizer shaft link to knuckle bolt.
  15. Remove the knuckle from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1237904  Size: SH
  1. Install the trailing arm to knuckle bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1347511  Size: SH
  3. Install the upper control arm to knuckle bolt and nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt and nut to 110 N·m (81 lb ft) plus 70 degrees.

  5. Install the toe link. Refer to Toe Link Replacement .
  6. Install the coil spring. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 1236981  Size: SH
  8. Install the lower shock absorber to knuckle bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1236972  Size: SH
  10. Install the stabilizer link to the knuckle.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  12. Install the rear wheel bearing and brake components. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement .
  13. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
