Verify that the power door locks key cylinder switches are inoperative.

Does the power door locks key cylinder switches system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Does the power door locks system operate normally?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Door Cylinder Switch parameter in the body control module (BCM) data list.

Does the scan tool display Idle?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

  1. Activate the key cylinder switch to the Lock and Unlock positions.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Door Cylinder Switch parameter in the BCM data list.

Does the scan tool display Idle in both positions?

Go to Step 7

Test the appropriate door lock key switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the ground circuit of the driver door lock actuator for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the appropriate door lock key switch signal circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door lock actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Replacement .
