Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Do any indicators illuminate when the chime sounds?

Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  4. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

Go to Step 4

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

With a scan tool, observe the Head Lamp OFF Switch parameter in the body control module (BCM) data list.

Does the Head Lamp OFF Switch parameter display Inactive?

Go to Step 5

Go to Headlamp Low or High Beams Always On

  1. Close the drivers door.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Driver Door Ajar SW parameter in the BCM Lamp Status data list.

Does the Driver Door Ajar SW parameter display Door Closed?

Go to Step 6

Go to Courtesy Lamps Always On

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Verify the scan tool Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter is NO.

Does the Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter display NO?

Go to Step 7

Test the key in ignition signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .

Replace the IPC. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
