Battery Replacement without LAT
Removal Procedure
- Remove the battery box cover (1).
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Disconnect the positive battery cable (2).
- Remove the battery tie down bolt (1).
- Remove the battery hold down retainer (2).
- Remove the battery from the battery tray (3).
Installation Procedure
- Position the battery in the battery tray (3).
- Install the battery hold down retainer (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the battery hold down retainer bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the positive battery cable (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the battery box cover (1).
Battery Replacement LAT
Removal Procedure
Caution: Do not tip the battery over a 45 degree angle or acid could spill causing
serious personal injury.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Disengage the two side retaining tabs on the positive battery cable cover (1), and open the cover.
- Loosen the positive battery cable nut (2).
- Remove the positive battery cable (3) from the battery.
- Reposition the positive battery cable out of the way.
- Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt (1) and retainer (2).
- Remove the battery (3) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Do not tip the battery over a 45 degree angle or acid could spill causing
serious personal injury.
- Install the battery (3) to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the battery hold down retainer (2) and bolt (1).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Position the positive battery cable to the battery.
- Install the positive battery cable (3) to the battery.
- Tighten the positive battery cable nut (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Close the positive battery cable cover (1).
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
