Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection LAT
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Turn on the radio and record all of the customer's radio station presets.
- Ensure that all lamps and accessories are turned off.
- Turn the ignition OFF and remove the ignition key.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the generator battery control module cover. Refer to
Generator Control Module Cover Replacement.
- Loosen the negative battery cable nut (1).
- Remove the negative battery cable (2) from the battery.
Installation Procedure
Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery terminal and the battery cable end.
- Install the negative battery cable (2) to the battery.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten the negative battery cable nut (1).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the generator battery control module cover. Refer to
Generator Control Module Cover Replacement.
- Close the hood.
- Insert the ignition key and turn the ignition to the ON position.
- Program all of the customer's radio station presets and set the radio clock to the current time.

Preliminary Procedures
- Record all of the vehicle preset radio stations.
- Turn OFF all the lamps and accessories.
- Turn the Ignition to the OFF position.
- Remove the battery cover. Disengage the retainers in order to remove the cover.

| Negative Battery cable Terminal
Note: Use a wire brush to clean any existing oxidation from the contact face of the battery terminal and negative battery cable.
