* DTC sets when shorted to B+ ** DTC sets when shorted to 5 volts |
The lateral accelerometer and the yaw rate sensor are combined into one sensor external to the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) uses the lateral accelerometer input when calculating the desired yaw rate.
Ignition ON.
• | The EBCM detects a short to B+ or a short to ground on the 5-volt reference circuit. |
• | The EBCM detects a short to B+ on either the yaw rate signal circuit or the lateral accelerometer signal circuit. |
One or more actions may occur:
• | The EBCM disables the 5-volt reference circuit. |
• | The EBCM disables the traction control system (TCS)/VSES for the duration of the ignition cycle. |
• | The EBCM may send a serial data message to illuminate the appropriate indicator/message there is a brake problem. |
• | The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |

⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM. |
⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM. |
⇒ | If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal 3 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM. |
