Rattle Noise From The Trunk Area Over Bumps - keywords 110V foam inverter power rear right squeak turns

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

2008 Malibu (new body style) built before February 2008 equipped with the console 110V outlet plug may have a rattle in the right rear trunk area. The 110V inverter module is attached to the right rear inner trunk support and maybe making contact with the support bracket over bumps making the rattle noise.

Open the trunk and remove the right side inner trunk trim panels and locate the 110V power inverter. Remove the module and attach felt to the bottom side of the inverter module to isolate it from the support bracket. Reinstall module and all trunk trim.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
