Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  3. Object Number: 1312045  Size: SH
  4. Remove the park brake cable (1)  from the trailing arm.
  5. Remove the rear wheel bearing/hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
  6. Remove the lower shock absorber bolt from the knuckle. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement.

  7. Object Number: 1835391  Size: SH
  8. Remove the toe link to knuckle bolt.
  9. Remove the rear coil spring. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement.

  10. Object Number: 1835394  Size: SH
  11. Remove the stabilizer shaft to knuckle bolt.

  12. Object Number: 1835402  Size: SH
  13. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle bolt.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1835402  Size: SH
  1. Position the knuckle to the upper control arm and install the bolt and nut. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement
  2. Install the coil spring. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 1835394  Size: SH
  4. Install the stabilizer shaft to knuckle bolt. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement.

  5. Object Number: 1835391  Size: SH
  6. Install the toe link to knuckle bolt and nut. Refer to Toe Link Replacement.
  7. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1835385  Size: SH
  8. Install the (3) trailing arm to knuckle bolts (1) and tighten to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).
  9. Install the lower shock to knuckle bolt. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement.
  10. Install the wheel bearing/hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.

  11. Object Number: 1312045  Size: SH
  12. Install the park brake cable (1) on the trailing arm.
  13. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Perform a vehicle wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement.
