Remove the 2 power steering gear inlet pipe routing pin-style retainers (1) from the right side of the frame.
Remove the 2 power steering gear inlet pipe routing pin-style retainers from the front of the frame.
Remove the power steering gear inlet/outlet pipe retaining bolt (1), disconnect the inlet pipe (2) and outlet pipe (4) from the steering gear (3).
Remove the power steering gear outlet pipe from the vehicle.
Extract the power steering gear oil seal (1) from the power steering gear using the
J 44586 (2) with the aid of a flat-bladed tool (3) for additional leverage.
Connect the inlet pipe (2) and outlet pipe (4) to the steering gear (3) and install the power steering gear inlet/outlet pipe retaining bolt (1). Prior to tightening the retaining bolt (1), rotate the outlet pipe (4)
clockwise/down so it touches the inlet pipe (2). Verify the hoses are still touching after the retaining bolt is tight.
Tighten Tighten the retaining bolt to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
Install the 2 power steering gear inlet pipe routing pin-style retainers to the front of the frame.
Install the 2 power steering gear inlet pipe routing pin-style retainers (1) to the right side of the frame.
