The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the battery went dead when the headlights and or parklights were left on accidentally. There is a "false" myth out there that says the battery run down protection should have prevented this from happening on all the vehicles listed above. It was not until the 2008 model year that Engineering implemented battery saver to shut headlamps and parklamps off after 20 minutes.
Recommendation/Instructions:
This feature was turned on for the newer vehicles "ONLY"
The Headlamp battery saver was implemented for:
2008 Saturn Aura, 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Classic and 2008 Pontiac G6
The Headlamp battery saver is NOT in prior model years:
2004-7 Malibu Classic, 2005-7 Pontiac G6, 2007 Saturn Aura
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
