Caution: When you use compressed air in order to clear fluid passages and to dry parts, always aim the air pressure away from face and eyes. Always wear adequate eye protection in order to avoid injury from dirt and debris that may adhere to parts. |
Notice: The automatic transaxle is an assembly that relies on hydraulic operation. This unit contains numerous seals, O-rings and gaskets that are set to very close tolerances. Any introduction of foreign matter can cause a hydraulic failure. Therefore, all facets of repair operations must be carried out in a clean work environment. |
Important:
|
• | Blow out all fluid passages with compressed air. |
• | Clean out small passages with fine wire. |
• | Handle all parts carefully in order to prevent damage. |
• | Clean and dry all parts before reassembly. |
Notice: Use J 36850 or equivalent during assembly in order to retain checkballs or to lubricate components. Lubricants other than the recommended assembly lube changes the transmission fluid characteristics and causes undesirable shift conditions or filter clogging. |
• | Clean case components thoroughly with solvent. |
• | Air dry. Do not wipe with cloths or rags. |
