J 36850 Transjel® Transmission Assembly Lubricant


  1. Object Number: 144049  Size: SH
  2. Inspect the speedometer driven gear (711) and the driven gear case O-ring (7150) for damage. Replace as necessary.
  3. Install the speedometer driven gear case (710) into the transaxle case. Lubricate the driven gear case O-ring (7150) with J 36850 .
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the speedometer driven gear case retaining bolt (709).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the speedometer driven gear case retaining bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).


  7. Object Number: 143258  Size: SH
  8. Inspect the vehicle speed sensor O-ring (7151) for damage. Replace as necessary.
  9. Install the vehicle speed sensor (712) into the transaxle case.
  10. Install the vehicle speed sensor retaining bolt (713).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the vehicle speed sensor retaining bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
