SOME 1980-81 "A" AND "B" CARS EQUIPPED WITH 305 (LG4) AND 350 (LM1) CU.IN. ENGINES AND POLICE PACKAGE MAY EXPERIENCE HESITATION AND POOR PERFORMANCE DURING OPERATION AT HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES (ABOVE 70F). AFFECTED VEHICLE PERFORMANCE MAY BE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED BY ADHERING TO THE FOLLOWING SERVICE PROCEDURES. PROCEDURE A -ALL FEDERAL 1980 "A" AND "B" CARS 1.REMOVE CARBURETOR NEEDLE AND SEAT ASSEMBLY PER SERVICE MANUAL ST-329-80, PAGE 6C3-16 (UNIT REPAIR). 2.INSTALL NEW NEEDLE AND SEAT KIT P/N 7035134. THIS KIT INCREASES NEEDLE AND SEAT FROM .125" TO .135". 3.SET FLOAT LEVEL TO .460" (REF SERVICE MANUAL ST-329-80). PROCEDURE B - 1980 AND EARLY 1981 "B" CARS ONLY 1.REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY. 2.INSERT THE AIR CLEANER SNORKEL INTO THE ACCORDIAN SECTION OF DUCT ASSEMBLY P/N 14010560. 3.SQUEEZE THE DUCT AROUND THE SNORKEL. PINCH IT FLAT AND DRILL A 3/8" HOLE AS SHOWN IN SKETCH. 4.INSTALL 8MM X 1.25 BOLT P/N 94003074, 2 FLAT WASHERS P/N 11500272 AND NUT P/N 11500760 AS SHOWN IN SKETCH. THE BOLT AND NUT ONLY NEEDS TO BE TIGHT ENOUGH TO PREVENT ACCORDIAN SECTION FROM COMING OFF SNORKEL. 5.PRESS THREE (3) GROMMETS P/N 547233 INTO EXISTING HOLES IN THE RADIATOR SUPPORT. ATTACH THE DUCT INLET TO THE RADIATOR SUPPORT USING THREE (3) RETAINERS P/N 1605396. 6.REINSTALL AIR CLEANER AND SLIDE ACCORDIAN CONNECTOR OVER THE DUCT INLET. PROCEDURE "B" WILL BE OMITTED ON 1981 "B" CARS PRODUCED WITH THE DUCT ASSEMBLY. ILLUSTRATION
