TRANS OIL EXHAUSTING FROM VENT 200 TRANSMISSION

Beginning February, 1982, a revised pump to case gasket and torque converter clutch valve went into production for the 1982 THM 200C transmission. This revision will help eliminate transmission oil from exhausting out the vent (refer to illustrations).

When servicing transmissions for this condition, check the following items:

(1) Proper fluid level (refer to service manual).

(2) Proper engagement of converter clutch. If converter clutch doesn't engage properl.y, check for a stuck torque converter clutch valve in pump cover.

(3) Pump body and cover quality for:

a. Nicks and burrs on face surfaces. b. Pump cover to body bolt torques (18 ft. lbs.).

(4) Direct clutch housing bushing for worn condition.

(5) Case for:

a. Nicks and burrs on case surface. b. Pump to case bolt torques (18 ft. lbs.).

SERVICE INFORMATION

When servicing a transmission, replace the first design pump to case gasket and converter clutch valve with second design service P/N's 8633899 and 8633877.
