---------------------------------------------------------------------- SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE ----------------------------------------------------------------------
THE FASTENER HOLE(S) REPAIR PROCEDURES IN THIS BULLETIN WERE DEVELOPED TO SUPPLEMENT THE SENSING AND DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) INFORMATION SHOWN IN THE "W" SERIES SERVICE MANUAL, SECTION 9J.
DURING SERVICE PROCEDURES, BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN HANDLING A SENSING AND DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM). NEVER STRIKE OR JAR THE SDM. NEVER POWER UP THE SIR SYSTEM WHEN THE SDM IS NOT RIGIDLY ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. ALL SDM AND MOUNTING BRACKET FASTENERS MUST BE CAREFULLY TORQUED AND THE ARROW MUST BE POINTING TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE TO ENSURE PROPER OPERATION OF THE SIR SYSTEM. THE SDM COULD BE ACTIVATED WHEN POWERED WHILE NOT RIGIDLY ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD CAUSE DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES SHOULD BE UTILIZED IN THE EVENT THAT THE MODULE MOUNTING HOLES OR FASTENERS ARE DAMAGED TO THE EXTENT THAT THE MODULE CAN NO LONGER BE PROPERLY MOUNTED OR GROUNDED.
