Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Place the vehicle in Neutral.
  4. Remove the shift linkage.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  6. Object Number: 99874  Size: SH
  7. Remove the mounting bolts.
  8. Remove the switch.

Installation Procedure

Tools Required

Supercharger to Lower Intake Manifold Alignment Tool

  1. Place the shift shaft in Neutral.
  2. Align the shift shaft flats to the switch flats.

  3. Object Number: 99874  Size: SH
  4. Install the mounting bolts.
  5. Verify the shift shaft is in the Neutral position if the bolt holes do not align with the transmission mounting boss.
  6. Do not rotate the switch.
  7. Do the following adjustments if the switch has been rotated and the pin is broken or when using the old switch:
  8. 6.1. Assemble the mounting bolts loosely.
    6.2. Align the slots using Supercharger to Lower Intake Manifold .
    6.3. Torque the bolts.

    Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Connect the electrical connector.
  10. Install the shift linkage.
  11. Verify that the engine will start only in Park or Neutral.
  12. Do the following if the engine starts in any gear other than Park or Neutral:
  13. 10.1. Adjust the switch.
    10.2. Inspect the shifter.
    10.3. Inspect the shifter cable.
