Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the auxiliary cooler upper mounting bolts.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  3. Support the vehicle on a suitable stand.
  4. Remove the auxiliary oil cooler hose. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Hose Replacement .
  5. Remove the auxiliary oil cooler lower mounting nuts.
  6. Remove the auxiliary oil cooler with the cooler pipe.
  7. Remove the cooler pipe from the auxiliary oil cooler.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the auxiliary oil cooler pipe.
  2. Install the auxiliary oil cooler.
  3. Install the cooler pipe.
  4. Install the lower mounting nuts on the auxiliary oil cooler.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the auxiliary oil cooler hose. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Hose Replacement .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Install the auxiliary oil cooler upper mounting bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Adjust the transmission fluid level.
