Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner.
- Remove the duct.
- On the 3.4L engine, remove the generator. Refer to
Generator Replacement
in Engine
Electrical.
- On the 3.4L engine, remove the generator mounting bracket. Refer
to
Generator Rear Bracket Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Refer to Wheel Removal in Tires and Wheels in order to remove
the left tire.
- Remove the powertrain rear mount.
- Remove the powertrain rear bracket.
- Remove the vehicle speed sensor. Refer to DTC P0602 Control Module Not Programmed
.
- Remove the case extension housing bolts.
- Remove the case extension housing.
- Remove the O-ring.
- Remove the axle seal.
Installation Procedure
- Install the case extension housing.
- Install the axle seal.
- Install the O-ring.
- Install the case extension housing bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the vehicle speed sensor. Refer to

.
- Remove the powertrain rear mount.
- Remove the powertrain bracket.
- Refer to Wheel Removal in Tires and Wheels in order to install
the left tire.
- On the 3.4L engine, install the generator mounting bracket. Refer
to
Generator Rear Bracket Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- On the 3.4L engine, install the generator. Refer to
Generator Replacement
in Engine
Electrical.
- Install the air cleaner.
- Install the duct.
