Tools Required

1. Remove the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement .
2. Remove the heater pipe retaining screws at the coolant recovery tank bracket.



3. Install the J 24420-B onto the balancer.
4. Turn the puller screw.



5. Remove the crankshaft balancer.

Tools Required

J 29113 Crankshaft Balancer Installer

1. Coat the front cover seal contact area (on the balancer) with engine oil.
2. Apply sealant GM P/N 12345739 or equivalent to the keyway of the balancer before installing.
3. Place the balancer in position over the key on the crankshaft.



4. Push the balancer onto the crankshaft.



5. Install the J 29113 onto the crankshaft.
6. Pull the balancer into position.
7. Remove the J 29113 .
8. Install the heater pipe retaining screws at the coolant recovery tank.
9. Install the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Crankshaft Pulley Replacement .
