Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Scribe the strut to knuckle.
- In order to remove the
insulator, remove the right and left stabilizer shaft link bolts and open
the brackets.
Important: Do not remove the strut to knuckle bolts.
- Remove the right and left strut to knuckle to stabilizer shaft nuts
(13).
- Remove the bolts from the insulator brackets (11) and remove the
bolts from the stabilizer shaft.
- Remove the stabilizer
shaft (10) . Use a flat-bladed tool if it is necessary pry the stabilizer
shaft to one side for removal clearance at the strut. Use care when prying.
Installation Procedure
- Install the stabilizer
shaft (10). Use a flat-bladed tool if it is necessary to pry the stabilizer
shaft to one side for installation clearance at the strut. Use care when
prying.
Important: In order to ensure proper alignment, align the strut to knuckle scribe
marks previously made during the removal procedure in step 3.
- Install the insulator brackets to stabilizer shaft knuckle bolts (2).
Hand start the nuts only.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the right
rear and left stabilizer shaft link bolts.
Tighten
• | Tighten the stabilizer shaft link bolts to 70 N·m
(52 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the strut to knuckle bolts to 112 N·m (83 lb ft). |
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the toe. Refer to
Rear Toe Adjustment
in Alignment.
