Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement Front

Tools Required

J 36721 Front Caliper Bracket Torx Bit

1. Remove the caliper (3). Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement .



2. Remove the caliper mounting bracket bolts (2) using the J 36721 .
3. Remove the caliper mounting bracket (1).



4. Remove the bushings from the mounting bracket.
5. Inspect the bracket for cracks. Replace the bracket if necessary.

Important: Apply a few drops of GM LOCTITE™ (or equivalent) to the threads of the mounting bolts before installation.

1. Lubricate the new bushings (1) with silicone grease.



2. Install the bushings (2) into the anchor bracket (1).




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the caliper mounting bracket (1) with the mounting bolts (2) using the J 36721 .

Tighten
Tighten the caliper bracket mounting bolts to 200 N·m (148 lb ft).




4. Install the caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement .

Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement Rear

1. Remove the caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement .
2. Remove the rotor.
3. Remove the caliper mounting bracket bolts.
4. Remove the caliper mounting bracket (5).

Important: Apply a few drops of LOCTITE® GM P/N 12345382 (or equivalent) to the threads of the mounting bracket bolts before installation.

1. Install the caliper mounting bracket (5).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the caliper mounting bracket bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the caliper mounting bracket bolts to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

3. Install the rotor.
4. Install the caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement .
