Circuit Operation

Ignition Positions

    • OFF
The radio receives battery voltage at all times on the circuit 640 through the Fuse 10 in order to keep the clock and the preset station memory alive.
    • ACCY or RUN
Voltage is applied to the circuit 43 through the Fuse 38 in order to enable the radio operation. The radio is grounded through the circuit 351.
The vacuum florescent display illuminates in order to display the time or the radio frequency setting.
       - The radio illumination is controlled by the instrument panel lamp dimmer.
       - The PARK or HEAD headlamp positions:
       - Voltage is applied through the dimmer control and circuit 230 to the radio panel lamp and the internal circuitry. Voltage is applied through circuit 308 to the radio, which signals the fluorescent display to a level determined by the voltage in the circuit 230.

Compact Disc and Cassette Player

The compact disc (CD) or cassette player is part of the radio unit, if equipped. When operating, the same power required by the radio is necessary for the tape or CD player operation.

Special Equipment Option (SEO)

Vacuum Florescent (VF) Dimming

The Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) displays of the digital speedometer and the radio can be either step dimmed to a night mode by the VF dim displays signals from the headlamp switch (CKT 230) or shut off by the SEO accessory switch (CKT 308). The SEO switch panel diode serves to prevent backfeeding from circuit 308/328 to circuit 39 if the SEO accessory switch and the headlamp switch are both on with the ignition in the OFF position.
