Did you perform the Audible Alarm System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder.
  3. Disconnect the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm electrical connector.
  4. Measure the resistance between the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm harness connector terminal C1 and the ground with the J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM).

Is the resistance within specified range?

Infinite

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect C201.
  2. Measure the resistance between the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm harness connector terminal C1 and the ground with the J 39200 DMM.

Is the resistance within specified range?

Infinite

Go to Step 5

  1. Inspect the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm electrical connector for a short at the ground terminal.
  2. Replace the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm if the connector is OK. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

  1. Inspect the wiring harness in the steering column for a short to in the CKT 80 between C201 and the ignition key warning switch.
  2. Replace the ignition key warning switch if the wiring is OK. Refer to Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set - Disassemble (Floor Shift) in Steering Wheel and Column.

Repair the short to ground in CKT 80.

  1. Ensure the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect any of removed the connectors/components.
