- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Disconnect the theft deterrent module.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
Is the SECURITY indicator OFF?

- Perform the Lock Cylinder and Harness Test . Refer to
SECURITY Indicator On, Engine Does Not Crank
- If you do not find any malfunctions replace the theft deterrent
module. Refer to
Theft Deterrent Module Replacement

- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Remove and disconnect the instrument cluster. Refer to
Instrument Cluster Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages
and Console.
- Connect a J 39200
DMM.
- Measure the resistance between the theft deterrent module harness
connector terminal A5 and the ground.
Is the resistance within the specified range?

- The SECURITY indicator is ON at all times because of a problem
within the instrument cluster. Refer to
Instrument Cluster System Check
in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Repair the components as needed.
