Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • Use the following combination of tools:
       - J 25034-C Power Steering Pump Pulley Remover (Base Only)
       - J 37609 Screw
       - J 25033-C Power Steering Pump Pulley Installer
    • The following tools may be used in place of the tools listed above:
       - J 36015 Power Steering Pump Pulley Installer
       - J 37609-A Power Steering Pump Pulley Remover
  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.1L or Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  2. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 293353  Size: SH
  4. Remove the power steering pump pulley using the J 25034-C with the J 37609 or the J 37609-A .

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: 

       • The face of the pulley hub must be flush with the end of the pump driveshaft.
       • Do not use the arbor press to install the pulley.

  1. Install the power steering pump pulley using the J 25033-C or the J 36015 .
  2. Install the power steering pump to the engine. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement or Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  3. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-3.1L. or Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-3.8L.
  4. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Refilling the Power Steering System .
  5. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  6. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .
