Front Wheel Drive Shaft Seal Replacement Left

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
3. Remove the left engine splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
4. Remove the left stabilizer shaft brackets from the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
5. Remove the left tie rod end from the left steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Knuckle with Strut Replacement in Front Suspension.
6. Remove the left lower ball joint from the left lower control arm. Refer to Steering Knuckle with Strut Replacement in Front Suspension.
7. Remove the left drive axle from the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Drive Axle.
8. Secure the left drive axle to the left steering knuckle and strut.



9. Use a screwdriver or other suitable tool to pry out the seal (409). Do NOT damage the seal bore.

Tools Required

1. Use a light wipe of transaxle fluid to lubricate the seal lip.



2. Use the J 34115 to install a new seal (409).
3. Install the J 37292-B in the seal.

Important: Carefully guide the axle shaft past the lip seal. Do NOT allow the shaft splines to contact any portion of the seal lip surface or damage to the seal will occur.

4. Install the drive axle to the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Drive Axle.
5. Remove the J 37292-B .
6. Install the left lower ball joint to the left left lower control arm. Refer to Steering Knuckle with Strut Replacement in Front Suspension.
7. Install the left tie rod end to the left steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Knuckle with Strut Replacement in Front Suspension.
8. Install the left stabilizer shaft bracket to the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
9. Install the left engine splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
10. Install the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Adjust the fluid level.
13. Inspect for proper completion of the repairs.
14. Inspect for proper fluid level.
15. Inspect for fluid leaks.

Front Wheel Drive Shaft Seal Replacement Right

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
3. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
4. Remove the right stabilizer shaft brackets from the right lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
5. Remove the right tie rod end from the right steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Knuckle with Strut Replacement in Front Suspension.
6. Remove the right lower ball joint from the right lower control arm. Refer to Steering Knuckle with Strut Replacement in Front Suspension.
7. Remove the right drive axle from the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Drive Axle.
8. Secure the right drive axle to the right steering knuckle and strut.
9. Use a screwdriver or other suitable tool to pry out the seal. Do NOT damage the seal bore.

Tools Required

2. Use the J 29130 to install a new seal.
3. Install the J 37292-B in the seal.

7. Install the right tie rod end to the right steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Knuckle with Strut Replacement in Front Suspension.
8. Install the right stabilizer shaft bracket to the right lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
9. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
10. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Adjust the fluid level.
13. Inspect for proper completion of the repairs.
14. Inspect for proper fluid level.
15. Inspect for fluid leaks.
