Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in this section.
  3. Place a squared off block of wood approximately 50 mm (2 in) diameter against the back surface of the cap.
  4. Use a hammer to strike the block of wood to remove the cap.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Failure to hit the cap squarely without the load distributed evenly could result in permanent damage to the cap.

  1. Place the cap into position at the wheel opening.
  2. Place a block of wood at least 76 mm (3 in) diameter against the cap face.
  3. Use a hammer to strike the block of wood to install the cap.
  4. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in this section.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
