Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way wiring harness connector at the base of the steering column.
- Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way wiring harness connector.
- Remove the two screws from the back of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module using the #30 TORX® driver or equivalent.
- Remove the inflator module from the steering wheel.
- Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling, Shipping, and Scrapping .
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA).
- Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module yellow 2-way connector from the SIR steering wheel coil yellow 2-way connector.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module yellow 2-way connector to the SIR steering wheel coil yellow 2-way connector.
- Install the connector position assurance (CPA).
- Secure the SIR steering wheel coil yellow 2-way connector to the steering wheel by inserting the thick section of the wire into the existing retainers.
- Position the inflatable restraint steering wheel module to the steering wheel.
- Tighten the two screws on the back of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module using the #30 TORX® driver or equivalent.
- Connect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way wiring harness connector at the base of the steering column.
- Install the connector position assurance (CPA) to the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil yellow 2-way wiring harness connector.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
Tighten
Tighten screws to 3 N·m (25 lb in).
