Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement Rear Wheels
Removal Procedure
Important: The rear wheel speed sensors and rings are integral with the hub and
bearing assemblies.
If a speed sensor or a ring needs replacement, you must replace the
entire hub and bearing assembly.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable hoist. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove the rear wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1). Located
next to rear strut (2).
- Remove the hub and bearing
assembly (1). Refer to
Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement
Replacement in Rear Suspension for removing hub/bearing/speed
sensor assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the hub and bearing
assembly (1) to the vehicle. Refer to
Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement
in Rear Suspension for installing
hub/bearing/speed sensor assembly.
- Install the rear wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1).
- Install the wheel and tire assembly.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position with the engine off.
- Perform the Diagnostic System Check. Refer to
Diagnostic System Check - ABS
.
Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement Front
Removal Procedure
Important: The front sensor is serviceable only as an assembly. DO NOT attempt to service the sensor harness pigtail as it is part of the sensor.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Disconnect the front electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt retaining the sensor pigtail wire.
- Remove the 2 bolts retaining sensor to the steering knuckle.
- Remove the sensor.
Installation Procedure
Important: Make sure the sensor guide pins are properly aligned and sensor is seated.
- Install the front wheel speed sensor.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the sensor retaining bolts.
TIGHTEN
Tighten to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).
- Reconnect the electrical connector to front wheel speed sensor.
