🢒 Fuel Pump Strainer Replacement
Removal Procedure
Important:
Always maintain cleanliness when servicing the fuel system components.
Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to
Fuel Pressure Relief
.
Remove the fuel sender assembly. Refer to
Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement
.
Note the strainer (3) position for future reference.
Support the reservoir with one hand and grasp the strainer with the other hand.
Use a screwdriver to pry the strainer ferrule off the reservoir.
Discard the strainer.
Installation Procedure
Install the new strainer (4) to the reservoir.
Support the reservoir with one hand and grasp the strainer with the other hand. Twist the strainer into position.
Install the fuel sender assembly. Refer to
Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement
.
Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
Inspect for fuel leaks:
5.1.
Turn the ignition ON for 2 seconds.
5.2.
Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
5.3.
Turn the ignition ON.
5.4.
Inspect for leaks.
